Diabetes Self-Management Education Program empowers the Person with Diabetes to improve their overall health through knowledge.

GOT Diabetes?

  • GET Educated!

Who should attend?

  • Newly diagnosed person
  • I want to improve blood sugar control
  • Interested in obtaining updated diabetes information
  • I want to lower risk of complications with diabetes

What does the education include?

  • One hour assessment with the program instructor to set goals
  • 3 – 3 hour group classes
  • Class 1 – What is Diabetes, types of diabetes, managing diabetes, and risk factors associated with diabetes, treatment options, monitoring
  • Class 2 – Nutrition
  • Class 3- Physical Activity, Staying on tract, learning to live with diabetes, overview of course

What do I need to know?

  • Provider referral (Physician, Nurse Practitioner, Mid-level provider)
  • Diabetes diagnosis
  • There is a charge for the class but covered by Medicare and most insurances.

Prepared Childbirth Classes

This class will help you prepare for a more relaxed childbirth. Whether taking this class as first time parents or as a refresher course, you will learn exercises to prepare you for labor & delivery, how the body changes during pregnancy, what to expect during labor, when to call the doctor, breathing techniques and how to relax for an easier childbirth. This class is most effective when taken after the sixth month of pregnancy. Optional tour of LDR provided.

Information about Newborn Care, how to calm a fussy baby, etc. will also be provided. Participants will need to bring 2 pillows to class. 

Classes are 9:00am – 4:00 p.m. at Wadley Regional Medical Center – Education Center

Cost

  • If delivering at Wadley: $15.00
  • All others: $30.00

Breast Feeding Classes

Learn about the benefits, proper techniques and challenges associated with breastfeeding. Carlotta Endsley, Certified Lactation Consultant, teaches this informative class. Moms may sign up as early as their 4th month of pregnancy.

Classes start at 6:30pm at Wadley Regional Medical Center – 1st Floor, Education Center

Cost:

  • If delivering at Wadley: $5.00
  • All Others: $15.00

Infant Choking & CPR Classes

Excellent class for parents, grandparents and babysitters! Know how to protect your infant’s and/or toddler’s precious life by learning the basic techniques to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Classes start at 7:00 pm at Wadley Regional Medical Center – Education Center

Cost:

  • If delivering at Wadley: $5.00
  • All others: $15.00

  • November 21 @ 7pm

Reservations are required for all classes. Call 1-877-7WADLEY to reserve your spot. Payment in advance is requested, but will be accepted on the day of class

Big Brother – Big Sister Classes

This class helps children 3 to 8 years of age prepare for the birth of a new member of the family. The children are taken on a tour of The Birth Place and are given gifts that designate them as the big brother or big sister of the new arrival. Recommended for no earlier than one month before delivery date.

Classes start at 4:00pm at Wadley Regional Medical Center – 3rd Floor, Maternal Child Classroom

Cost:

  • If delivering at Wadley: $5.00
  • All Others: $10.00
